The site distinguishes two kinds of image, and captions them differently. Subject illustrations, a grain, a processing gesture, do not show the project and carry the word “illustration”. A photograph of the project shows a real step: it is located and credited, with no warning, because it shows what it claims to show.
The site has nine photographs of the project. Eight were taken in Geneva on 28 August 2026: a bakehouse, the making and bottling of the bissap sold for the project, and the project’s name written in chocolate by a pastry chef. The ninth is a meeting in Senegal; its exact date and place are not established, and are therefore not asserted.
No image on this site was taken in Kaolack, and none shows the training centre: it has not been built. The place where each photograph of the project was taken is shown beneath it, precisely so that none can be read as a view of Senegal. The date of 28 August 2026 is the one recorded in the original files, not the date they were sent to us.
This is not a rhetorical choice. Photographs of millet fields were set aside because identifiable farmers appear in them, in India: on a site about a Senegalese cooperation, a reader would take them for the project’s beneficiaries. Every image therefore carries the word “illustration”, its author, its licence and where it comes from.
The photographs of 28 August 2026 are assigned to the project by their author, and the people in them agreed to their publication. Only Eric Emery is named: he presides over the association making the application. The other people photographed are not named, because their names were not given to us. The photograph taken in Senegal has not yet been the subject of a written assignment of rights or of image-rights consent. No commercial stock image was purchased.
